The Application Process

The Application Process

Step 1 – Enquire

Anybody can enquire about a place. All we ask is that you contact us first to arrange a visit. Visits usually take about an hour and include a tour of our facilities.

Step 2 – Apply

Applicants are asked to return a completed application form. If we decide the programme may be able to meet an applicant’s learning and support needs, we will write to them to confirm this. we will also contact the applicant’s, Local Authority (if they haven’t already been informed).  The Local Authority may make the decision to commission a place with us, and therefore we need to work with them throughout the application process. If we are unable to offer a place, we will write to the applicant providing the reasons why.

Step 3 – Attend Taster Days

Taster days involve working in one of the different work areas and joining in a classroom session. The taster days help us to prepare a Pre-Entry Assessment for the applicant.

Step 4 – Approval by the Applicant’s Local Authority

Pre-Entry Assessments and supporting information are sent to the applicant’s Local Authority. If the applicant’s Local Authority agrees to commission a place, we write to the applicant to confirm this.

Step 5 – Enrolment

Clients join the programme at the beginning of each term (usually September, January and April). Once a start date has been agreed, we send information to the applicant to help them to prepare to join the programme and settle in once they are here.

After the Pathways to Adulthood Programme

The programme is all about preparing for life after Pathways. Clients can access independent advice and guidance to make suitable choices before they complete their two or three year programme. Possible destinations may include:-

♦ A job in supported employment

♦ An independent job

♦ An education programme

“The approach is person centred, drawing out the best of each person, in a relaxed and friendly environment. One thing I value is the trust respect given by Midstream to each person, Which means that individuals may be given responsibility to use very expensive equipment”.
